Sunset Da Mona Lisa - Seafood and Italian Restaurant
Los Cabos Guide - Restaurant and Dining Review - March 2007 by by Sandra Berry.

Everything’s new but the view! New owners, new management, new chef, new menu, and new decor. Long a mainstay in Los Cabos, formerly known as Da Giorgio, the location has always drawn sunset seekers, and is at the top of the list for wedding planners and a must for visitors.

What better place to see the famous arch at Land’s End than while sipping a favorite beverage on the multi-level terrace or in the new DG Lounge. Under the directorship of Peter Havercroft the restaurant prides itself in offering exceptional Italian cuisine with emphasis on local seafood with Latin and Mediterranean influences.

When it’s time for dining, choose either al fresco under a magnificent palapa (palm-thatched roof) surrounded by glass walls to protect diners from the prevalent sea breezes, or the enclosed air-conditioned salon.

Italian Executive Chef Emanuele Olivero gives special attention to each dish. He is a professional in culinary art who has earned a name for himself both in Italy and in Los Cabos, having previously been part of Charly Trotters Palmilla Restaurant.

When in doubt while perusing the tantalizing menu, take part in several choices of a 3-course Tasting Menu priced from $60 US to $90. Daily specials might include paper-thin seared scallops with lemon and watercress to tease the appetite, followed by octopus salad infused with orange and garlic and drizzled with olive oil. Rare tuna with caviar, or the house special fresh yellowtail with Gorgonzola and mushrooms served with caramelized onion quiche give you an idea of the treat that awaits you.

Today’s Pacific harvest might include sea bass wrapped in prosciutto with wild mushrooms, or the lemon-seared dorado with fingerling potatoes. Some of the more traditional pasta dishes include linguine al pesto and fettuccine with baby scallops. A light dessert of pear compote with peach sorbet leaves you feeling sated.

Suggested international wines are included on the menu to pair with various dishes, including dessert wines. Pasta dishes from $17 to $36 for the trilogy, entrees from $26 to $36. Seating for 80 in air-conditioned comfort; 120 al fresco. Group capacity for up to 200 makes it a popular wedding location. Open from 5 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Located at Km. 6 on the Transpeninsular Highway in Misiones del Cabo, next to Monuments Beach. Valet parking available. Reservations suggested.
