Hurricane Jimena 2009 - September 1, 2009 - Category Three hurricane, moves past Los Cabos with no major damage. Areas in the central part of the peninsula sustained significant damage.
Hurricane Paul - October 25, 2006 - Wednesday morning, 2:00 am PDT the center of Tropical Storm Paul was located near latitude 21.8 N, longitude 109.9 W or about 75 miles (120 km) south of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Maximum sustained winds were near 45 mph, forecasted to weaken.
Hurricane Lane 2006 - this Tropical Storm intensified to a category three hurricane and was headed for Los Cabos before turning east and making landfall, September 16th, on mainland Mexico north of Mazatlan.
Hurricane John 2006 - has left the Los Cabos area and things, for the most part, are back to normal. We were without internet service until around 12 noon on Monday, September 3rd.
Hurricane Ignacio (August 23 to 26th, 2003) - Hurricane Ignacio, was the one that wasn't for Cabo San Lucas and Los Cabos. We were expecting huge amounts of rain and big seas. It didn't happen - the hurricane came within 100 miles of us and then went into the Sea of Cortez, completely missing us here in Cabo San Lucas.
Hurricane Juliette - (September 26, 2001) - The port in Cabo San Lucas was closed from Wednesday September 26th until October 2nd. Hurricane Julliette was about the nastiest storm I've seen here in Cabo. |
