Overview of La Paz
Secluded on the east coast of Baja California Sur, along the clear, quiet waters of the Sea of Cortez, is the town of La Paz. It is a place whose very name signifies peace. Despite beaches as beautiful as the Caribbean’s, and sport fishing as exciting as anywhere in the world, La Paz has somehow escaped the crowds and remains a hidden jewel to be discovered.

History
La Paz has only recently been quietly discovered – just as it was discovered by Cortez in 1535, by John Steinbeck in the 1940s, and Jacques Cousteau in the 1960s, and by the close-knit community of North Americans and mainland Mexicans who now mix happily with the native Paceños.

Its surrounding seas are home to harbor porpoises, whales, dolphins, sea lions, mantas and sharks, while its rocky coasts are home to hundreds of resident and migratory birds.
