Los Cabos Tourism Board reports that local resorts never lost power and were very well prepared to keep their guests safe and comfortable during the peak effects of the passing hurricane.
Most guests were able to return to their rooms late Friday (Sept. 1), while a few hotels remained empty until today (Sept. 6).
While tourist areas of Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and the Tourist Corridor have not suffered significant damage, the East Cape was largely affected.
The communities of Los Barriles and La Ribera (about 50 miles northeast of San Jose del Cabo) have faced devastation in all aspects: electricity, running water, housing, fishing, agriculture, health and education (most schools have been destroyed).
In the capital of Baja California Sur--La Paz, the hurricane left main streets flooded and knocked down trees and electric power poles.
